Why Progress Is Delayed

This is a Good News/Bad News very short story.

The good news is all those boxes pictured above will, over the next several weeks, bring our 1960 built house and kitchen up to date - and this is the last significant project on the horizon (smaller ones out over the horizon).  Thankfully, those future projects are likely to have minimum impact on hobby time - I hope!  Being that last significant project means that on the other side I will have more time for my hobbies.

The bad news is that those cabinets behind all that stuff is where the majority of my miniatures items are stored and those stored in other areas are similarly "buried" behind stuff moved out of the kitchen (and breakfast nook which is my wife's craft space which was full beyond grasping!) to make way for the remodel.  And that means no progress until the project is done or at least that space in the garage is cleared.

Real life interfering with my hobbies in extremis.

Heck, I can't even get to my model railroad or my painting table until things get put away.  However, there is a bit of a silver lining.  Contractor left a big dumpster over the weekend and I have permission to be rid of much detritus lying about the homestead.  Get that stuff out of the way and that, too, will help clear up hobby time.

Oh, well.  Maybe having this enforced break will reinvigorate progress later.  Curious to see how it goes because a little reflection has shown that between my late mother's health issues which took so much of my time and the various household projects we've undertaken and a few 'big' trips, it's been at least five years since I've had a 'normal' life allowing for hobby time.  There has been some progress and I did purchase pretty much everything else I'm ever likely to need, so it wasn't an entire hobby wasteland, just not as much progress as hoped.  Not nearly.

Here's to hope.
